Why One-on-One Tutoring?

Reasons you may be looking for a tutor for your child:
- Falling behind at school
- Low confidence
- Learning and comprehension difficulties
- Memory difficulties

I am a registered teacher with 20 years' teaching experience and during my tenures at various schools, after school education centres and adult learning centres (basic literacy and numeracy for adults with learning difficulties), I have encountered many students with learning difficulties, who just needed that extra time and attention to comprehend a newly introduced task or concept. A different teaching method was most of the time also required to address their specific learning styles and to ensure a successful outcome. Many times, during my career, I have wished that I could do more to help these students to reach their full potential by giving them the correct tools and skills required to achieve better results, build their confidence and boost their feeling of self-worth.
I believe in building a good rapport with my students, for them to trust me completely, so they feel comfortable to ask questions and challenge themselves. Over the years I have had comments such as:
"Thank you for taking the time to explain this properly, because now I understand how to do long multiplication for the first time in my life."

This is why I've decided to start Feniks Education, a one-on-one tutoring service, where I can share my knowledge, skills and experience I have gained over the years. Positively changing students' lives by being compassionate, encouraging and catering for their individual needs. I firmly believe all children can learn when taught in a positive, supportive and engaging environment and given the correct skills and tools, so they can become happy and confident learners to achieve their full potential.

Why the name, Feniks Education?
A Phoenix represents renewal, rebirth and the beginning of a new life. The rising of the phoenix symbolizes that a person has gone through difficult times but has resurrected and survived. This is what I want for my student, to understand that although they have been through a difficult time up to now, it will change, with the correct help and learning new skills and strategies, they will rise like the phoenix to new heights in their learning and achieve their educational goals.

Phoenix is spelt FENIKS. By writing the name phonetically, enables students to also pronounce it correctly. I want my students to be FAB(fabulous):

F - Focus on their goals, improving English and Maths skills step by step.
A - Achieve their goals with newly learnt strategies and skills.
B - Believe in themselves, have a Can-Do attitude, never give up.

I really want my students to understand that their journey to where they want to be, won't be an easy one, because success comes from a lot of hard work, dedication and learning from our mistakes, and also love and support from caring compassionate people. Once they understand that, they will learn to enjoy their educational journey.
